BOLD PAC Endorses Jim Costa for Congress

Today, Jim Costa’s re-election campaign announced it has won the support of BOLD PAC, a key organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the US House and Senate and championing progressive Democrats who fight for change.

BOLD PAC Chairman and Congressman Tony Cárdenas said: “I’m supporting Jim Costa because I know his experience and commitment to our shared values are desperately needed in these difficult times. In Congress, Jim will continue to be a partner in the fight against the White House’s cruel policies, working tirelessly so that immigrants, women, working people, and marginalized communities have a voice in Congress.”

Born in Pacoima, Congressman Cárdenas was raised by hardworking immigrant parents and went on to become an engineer and small business owner. He was the first Latino to represent the San Fernando Valley in the United States Congress. Congressman Cardenas still resides in the San Fernando Valley with his wife, Norma, and their children.

BOLD PAC Member and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard said: “Jim Costa is the clear choice for Congress. Jim has been a leader in the fight to protect women’s healthcare against the Trump Administration’s persistent and growing attacks, a champion for our students and families, and a strong voice for creating good paying jobs that increase access to the middle class. With our nation facing some of the greatest challenges we’ve ever faced, we need Jim’s unfaltering commitment to our Democratic values.”

Congresswoman Roybal-Allard was the first Mexican-American woman ever elected to the United States Congress. She has fought to improve healthcare and has been a key leader in improving early childhood education and expanding science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. Congresswoman Roybal-Allard is also an original co-author of the DREAM Act to protect U.S.-raised immigrant youth.

Board Member and Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez said: “We need Jim Costa in Congress. Jim has fought to protect our DREAMers, stood up for women’s reproductive healthcare, and worked to ensure we can raise our families in safer neighborhoods with quality public schools. I know that Jim will bring his experience and vision to bear in meeting the many challenges we face.”

Congresswoman Sánchez as fought to strengthen our communities by helping small businesses create more good paying jobs, increasing access to educational opportunities, and helping hard working people get ahead. Congresswoman Sánchez became the first Latina elected to a leadership position in the U.S. Congress when she was elected Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus in 2017.

Congressman Jim Costa said: “It is truly an honor to earn the support of BOLD PAC, a group that has been dedicated to protecting our Democratic values and ensuring those in power look like those whom they represent. In Congress, I will continue to stand up for our shared values of equality and opportunity for all Americans, ensuring everyone has the chance to own a home, send their children to quality schools, and live in safe neighborhoods.”
