Today, Congressman Jim Costa’s campaign for re-election announced that U.S. Senator Alex Padilla has endorsed Congressman Costa.

U.S. Senator Alex Padilla said: “I’m happy to endorse my friend and colleague, Congressman Jim Costa for California’s new 21st Congressional District. Jim is a proud problem solver who always fights for all working families. I look forward to continuing to work with Jim to fix our immigration system, improve access to healthcare, and ensure clean drinking water for all communities.”

Senator Padilla has represented California in the United States Senate since January 2021, when he was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to finish the term of Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. Prior to his appointment, he served as California’s Secretary of State. The son of Mexican immigrants, Padilla attended Los Angeles public schools and is a graduate of MIT.

The 2022 primary will be held on June 7, 2022.
