California Governor Gavin Newsom has endorsed Jim Costa for re-election to the United States Congress. In endorsing Congressman Costa, Governor Newsom praised Costa’s commitment for a brighter, healthier future for the Valley.
Governor Newsom said: “I’m proud to support Jim Costa for re-election and to continue partnering with him to build a brighter future for the Valley, including access to health care and clean water and air.”
Congressman Costa said: “I am honored to receive the support of our Governor, Gavin Newsom. I have long admired the Governor’s commitment to ensuring Californians can raise their families in safe and healthy neighborhoods. Governor Newsom has been and will continue to be one of my closest partners in ensuring we continue to deliver positive results for the Valley and California.”
Among the Valley’s most pressing and perennial issues is access to clean and reliable water supplies. Costa has been at the forefront of this issue since first being elected to represent the Valley, having secured over $290 million in funding for water improvements.
Within the first week of his inauguration, Governor Newsom made a clear commitment to helping communities like those in the Valley find clean sources of water, proposing $190 million for safe drinking water projects.
Congressman Costa continued: “I am looking forward to continuing to work with Governor Newsom to ensure the Valley receives its fair share so that all of our families have the quality of life they deserve.”
